We are pleased to announce that Ian Boyd, Chief Executive and  Sam Crawford, Head of Income Development at Notts County FC Football in the Community, will both be presenting at our 14th EFDN ‘#Morethanfootball’ Online Conference

Ian Boyd is a professionally qualified Youth and Community worker, who graduated from Birmingham University in 2004. Since then, he has worked across the UK specifically within the charity sector for a range of youth, community, and sports development organisations. Ian joined FITC in Jan 2019 as the CEO and since then, amongst other things, has been overseeing the development of their new business strategy, with a distinct focus on income development and providing a Community Hub in the heart of Nottingham City’s Meadows area.

Sam Crawford is an experienced charity leader with proven skills in strategic development and fundraising. He is passionate about social justice and empowering disenfranchised communities. Sam has dedicated his career to supporting disadvantaged people be that in the UK or in Africa and he is motivated by the opportunity to find innovative ways of empowering those who have been disenfranchised in society, assisting them to play an active part in their communities. Sam’s heart and soul are very much within the voluntary sector and he is proud to work alongside such committed and inspirational colleagues.

The Portland Leisure Centre: a Community Hub that SHINEs

The presentation will include a brief description of some of the history of the 105 years old Portland Leisure Center. Ian and Sam will also describe how they use the center through the club’s charitable work; including how this plays a key role in their new business strategy 2020-2024. They will discuss some of the challenges of operating a commercial enterprise, also, describing the many benefits of running the center. Finalizing, on how they measure it’s impact, with what success looks like for Notts County FC Football in the Community.
