Patrick Gasser (UEFA) presents CSR-strategy and HatTrick scheme

We are delighted to announce that Patrick Gasser, Head of UEFA’s Football and Social Responsibility (FSR) Unit, will be presenting at our 14th EFDN Conference in Breda.

Patrick will give an overview of Social Responsibility as an integrated part of the business process exemplified by the revised four-year UEFA-HatTrick V scheme 2020-2024 in favor of the 55 UEFA national associations. He will explain the road from a project-based to a strategic approach. HatTrick was launched in 2004 thanks to the UEFA EURO that took place in Portugal. Based on the simple idea of ploughing a large proportion of the European championship revenue back into football development in three (hence its name) different ways: investment, education and knowledge-sharing. By 2024, the HatTrick programme will have made a remarkable €2.6 billion available to its member associations.

Patrick Gasser is Head of UEFA’s Football and Social Responsibility (FSR) Unit, having joined UEFA in 1999. He applies social responsibility as an integrated part of UEFA’s activities – considering its’ impact on the economy, society and the environment (climate action). Before joining UEFA, he worked for thirteen years at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), both in the field and at the headquarters in Geneva. Patrick has worked in areas affected by conflict in Africa, Asia and Europe where he had a broad range of responsibilities that included directing relief and protection operations, and managing media contacts. Along with football, his sporting passions are skiing and tennis.
