Real Madrid Foundation confirmed as speaker at the 10th EFDN Conference

EFDN is pleased to announce that Julio González Ronco, Managing Director of the Real Madrid Foundation, will be a speaker at the 10th EFDN Conference.

In his presentation ‘The Real Madrid Foundation – 20 years of sports and solidarity’, Mr. González Ronco will be presenting the history of the Foundation and its projects, as well as demonstrating how the Foundation considers Team Sports as a means of education, how the values of sports can be used to promote integration, and the promotion of football for development in general.

Real Madrid Foundation In the last 20 years, the Real Madrid Foundation has developed social-sports projects all over the world to help more than 800.000 people using the sports, football and basketball to improve their education, integration, cooperation and their future lives. Real Madrid Foundation is the social entity of Real Madrid CF social commitment.

Social sports programmes and projects in Spain reached over 12,500 people during the 2016/17 season. The adapted social sports schools and the children’s basketball programme in hospitals have been the Foundation’s fastest growing lines of action in this 2016-17 season in Spain. The football (38) and basketball (10) social sports schools have become established along with additional new projects. Around 70% of students attend with a scholarship or half-scholarship, thanks to the collaboration of patrons who support the Foundation’s projects.

Other educational programs like Summer Camps and clinics are attending more than 40.000 kids each season all over the world. Real Madrid Foundation

The International division of the Real Madrid Foundation ended the 2016-17 season with 293 projects and social sports schools in 74 countries. More than 36,000 youngsters, besides enjoying playing sport, have benefited, based on their specific needs, from extra academic tutoring, psychological support, medical check-ups and workshops on nutrition and healthy habits. In order to apply the Real Madrid Foundation methodology throughout the world we have trained almost a thousand football and basketball coaches this season, 14% of them women.

Julio González Ronco

Doctor in LJulio Gonzalez Ronco - Real Madrid Foundationaw from the University Complutense in Madrid, Spain, Mr. González Ronco began his professional career as Technical Consultant of the Superior Council of Sports in 1995 and was one of the technical authors of the Royal Decree of Sports Qualifications. The next year, he became Technical Consultant for the Sports Division of the Board of Autonomous Communities of Castille-La Mancha, and was one of the authors of the Decree on Sports Discipline of said Community. In 1997, Mr. González Ronco began his practice as a Lawyer for the Youth and Sports Foundation, for the Foundation to Support People with Auditory Deficiencies (PROADA), and for the Automobile Federation of Castille-La Mancha (until 1999). Mr. González Ronco has been and is still closely tied to the Spanish Olympic Committee, as Legal Consultant for the Committee and its Foundation, Secretary of its Legal Commission (from 1997 to this date), Secretary General of the Spanish National Court of Sports Arbitrage (1997-1999) and Secretary of the Ethical Commission (from 2006 to date) of the Spanish Olympic Committee. Moreover, Mr. Ronco acted as legal Consultant for the Royal Spanish Federation of Olympic Shooting.

Mr. González Ronco has been involved with the Real Madrid Foundation since its beginnings, as its General Manager from 1999 to 2006 and from 2009 to present date. In addition, he has assessed the Spanish State’s Lottery System in Corporate Social Responsibility, and provided technical and legal guidance to the private company Augeo Sport, S.L. and to the Peace Dream Foundation, both from 2008 to 2009. Mr. González Ronco actively contributed to writing various publications regarding sports and sports management, such as “A Goal to the Future”, a publication of the National Professional Football League (in 2000) and the “City Councilor Guide to Sports” distributed to municipalities all over Spain, and published by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces in the year 2000.
