Saints Foundation joins 10th EFDN Conference as a Speaker

We are delighted to announce that Saints Foundation will join us at the 10th EFDN #Morethanfootball Conference sharing their knowledge on the topic of establishing partnerships.

Saints Foundation believe in developing partnerships with likeminded organisations which innovate to address local P.37.4social issues. The creation of the Saints Community Champions programme and Saints Foundation’s collaboration with The Big Issue are demonstrations of this approach to tackling these issues, creating outcomes for some of the most vulnerable in society and raising awareness of this project driven work.

The presentation will focus on the establishment of these two partnerships, the learnings established and the outcomes – expected and unexpected – which have been driven through the programmes.

Sam Fulling

P.37.2As a passionate advocate of sport for social change Sam started a career in sport for community development, initially at Saracens Sport Foundation, before joining Saints Foundation in 2016 as Foundation Manager to oversee the operational running of the charity. This new role ensures that the project delivery, fundraising and business operation is joined up in it’s approach to providing the strategic goal to ‘fulfil potential, and change the lives of participants’. Since joining Saints Foundation Sam led on the creation and coordination of the Saints Together campaign, an annual celebration of the work that Southampton FC through Saints Foundation carries out in the community.

James Chillery

James Chillery has a wide range of experience and knowledge both academically and professionally in utilising sport P.37.3as a tool for social good. James is currently the Project Operations Manager at Saints Foundation, the charitable arm of Southampton Football Club. Within his role, James is the strategic lead for the Foundation’s community based charitable projects that address a number of local needs across four themed areas, namely; Health and Wellbeing, Schools and Community, Employability and Learning, and Inclusion and Participation. Prior to joining Saints Foundation, James worked in South Africa, developing an integration programme that used sports-based activities to bring segregated communities together that still continues today. James is passionate about utilising sport for development and believes that football in particular can be an important platform to create positive individual and societal change.
