The EFDN Conferences
Now in the 13th edition, the Conferences are EFDN’s flagship event. Held bi-annually, the conferences provide network members, practitioners, project leaders and decision-makers from community-engaged professional football organisations with the opportunity to share best practice, debate, explore, produce ideas and solutions and understand new initiatives.
The EFDN Conferences feature presentations on critical current topics, trends and groundbreaking social programmes by high profile experts in the field as well as break-out sessions, panel discussions, practical workshops, monitoring and evaluation initiatives, and roundtable discussions. The programme gives the attendees an insight into how Europe’s leading football clubs and organisations develop and implement football-based community and social responsibility initiatives currently, and in the future.
Developing the transformative role of football
Topics for discussions include community involvement, environmental awareness and practices, educational and health initiatives, cultural understanding and integration, tackling racism, promoting equality, stadium accessibility and sustainability, community-based fan engagement and much more. EFDN is committed using the power of football to promote and advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The theme for the second EFDN Conference of 2019 in November is ‘CSR in European Football’ covering the whole spectrum of issues related to CSR in football including topics such as match-fixing and integrity, stadium sustainability and accessibility, alongside the activities normally associated with football-related CSR. The 13th EFDN Conference coincides with the celebration of the 5 year anniversary of EFDN and the 25 year anniversary of the FC Barcelona Foundation.
The Conferences are a two-day event with speakers and attendees from leading clubs, associations, federations and organisation in the CSR field of professional football. The 12th Conference was held at the Stamford Bridge stadium of Chelsea FC in March and included presentations from foundation’s representatives of Chelsea FC, Athletic Club, SL Benfica, Real Madrid CF, SV Werder Bremen, Rangers FC, NAC Breda, Chicago Fire, PAOK FC, Club Brugge, Hibernian FC, and many more specialists and experts in the field of CSR in football. The 13th incarnation of the Conference will be held at FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium with an equally high caliber line-up which will be announced in the coming weeks.
Following every conference, EFDN publishes a detailed post-conference report highlighting the content from the various speakers, breakout sessions, roundtable discussions, and panels.
