Maja Gasik – Speaker at the 20th EFDN Conference

Maja Gasik, Junior Project Manager at the Legia Foundation, is a confirmed speaker at our 20th EFDN ‘Making Football Matter’ Conference in Athens from the 13th until the 15th of November 2023.

Maja is a freshly graduated master student from Faculty of management at the University of Warsaw. During her master degree she moved for a semester to Italy to broaden her knowledge and learn from different perspective. Since her early teens she had a goal of doing something for society by being active in several volunteerprograms and mentoring teams in project management competition. She gained experience in marketing agencies and in September 2022 she joined Legia Foundation as a junior project manager.

The ”Fundacja Legii” is one of the shortlisted clubs for the More than Football Award 2023 with their project #ReadyToHelp Refugees from Ukraine. The project #ReadyToHelp Refugees from Ukraine is a humanitarian initiative which was launched in response to the war in Ukraine and the influx of refugees into Poland, particularly Warsaw. The project’s main objectives include providing essential support to Ukrainian refugees, supplying basic necessities to those who remained in Ukraine, raising awareness about the war’s causes, and offering normalcy to displaced children and mothers.

The project also includes educational and integration activities for children and mothers, fostering a sense of belonging in the new country. The Legia Foundation has also facilitated the relocation of the Ukrainian youth rowing team and provided training for their staff. During the conference Maja will give a 15-minute presentation about this project. The winner, to be decided by a voting system, will be announced at the Gala Dinner in the Acropolis Museum at Tuesday 14th of November.

”My best, and for sure unforgetable, CSR football moment has to be an AMP junior camp that we have co-organized in Warsaw this year. Seeing almost 80 children from 9 countries that has lost a limb and not given up was extremely empowering. A moment that I will never forget was going onto the pitch with a central circle advertising material just minutes before the first whistle of Legia Warsaw’s game. The response of crowd in the stadium was breathtaking and those 5 minutes gave us a true feeling that those children, with our support, can be playing in the biggest stadiums in the world.”
