Paul Williams and Tracy Herd – Speakers at the 21st EFDN Conference

Paul Williams and Tracy Herd, Program Implementation Director and Europe Young Men’s Health Director at Movember, are confirmed speakers at our 21st EFDN #MoreThanFootball Conference in Warsaw from the 22nd until the 24th of April 2024.

Paul has 20 years’ experience in the public and non-profit sectors building teams, programmes, strategies, and partnerships to improve the lives of young and vulnerable people. In his current role, he leads the implementation and delivery of Movember’s mental health and suicide prevention programs, with a focus on using the power of sport to improve mental health outcomes for young men. Prior to joining Movember, Paul spent six years leading community programmes for a Premier League football club’s foundation.

Tracy has more than 15 years’ experience in public health policy and health improvement with a particular focus on men’s health and health inequalities. Tracy has led on the expansion of Movember’s flagship mental health and sport programme ‘Ahead of the Game’ in the UK, Australia, Ireland, and Canada and secured the partnership that saw Movember become the Official Mental Fitness Partner of the Rugby League World Cup 2021. In her current role, Tracy has a focus on improving young men’s health through partnerships in sport and e-sports, research on masculinities and advocating for a policy focus on men and boy’s mental health.

During their presentation at the EFDN Conference, Tracy and Paul will take delegates “behind the Mo” and explain how a conversation between two mates about bringing back the moustache 20 years ago, has since grown into a global movement of more than 6 million people. Paul and Tracy will then dig into why – despite huge progress over the last 20 years – there is still a need to focus on the health and wellbeing of men and boys. They’ll then share Movember’s work in in sport and announce an exciting partnership with the EFDN with opportunities for member organisations to get involved.

“From seeing young kids learn and develop, people with a disability connect and thrive, and cancer patients overcome challenge and live well, I’ve been privileged to see first hand how the power of football can change lives.”
